Ballet
Ballet originates from the fifteenth century Italian renaissance but soon spread to France where it was further developed. It’s a highly technical dance style with it’s own vocabulary. It’s widely used as a foundation to many other dance techniques & styles.
Most classes will involve both barre & floor/centre work and we’ll cover both classical & more contemporary Ballet styles. Ballet is strong on technique & great for building a strong, flexible body & core but we will also make sure you get a chance to really dance & have fun.
We have various optional performance opportunities throughout the year to showcase your progress & achievements.
All classes are inclusive, welcoming & friendly, with an emphasis made on supporting each other, building a community and having FUN.
Suitable for ANYONE & EVERYONE over 18yrs. You do not need any previous experience to join our beginner classes. If you do have prior training then you can join our Intermediate/Advanced classes.
What to wear/bring
You should wear clothes you can move freely in; shorts/leggings, t-shirt/vest…Ballet tights, leotards etc. are great, but not a requirement. Regarding footwear, Ballet shoes are great if you’re happy to buy them, but bare feet or socks (if safe) will be fine.
After class social
We always go for a drink or food after class. Everyone is welcome & encouraged to join!
We understand socialising can be scary, especially with new people, but it’s a big part of what we’re about, and we will do everything we can to make you feel welcome & included. We also find that people who socialise with their class, not only enjoy the classes more but also improve faster.
